Ready for Halloween

There’s been some spooky goings on in Joseph Herron’s Bakery recently, and staff and volunteers are ready for frightfully fantastic fun after taste testing countless sugary treats, just in time for Halloween!

For the past few years, the museum has been completely transformed for our brilliantly ghoulish Halloween Evening events, where all of your regular haunts (excuse the seasonal pun) are unrecognisable! This year, the Evenings take place on 22nd, 23rd, 26th, 27th and 31st October, 6.30-9.30pm.

Fruit rock buns and coconut haystacks (that you normally see in our 1900s Town bakery), have made way for delicious iced bun pumpkin faces (it took a frightfully long time to make the black icing triangles for the eyes and nose!), brownie coffins (complete with gummy worms), and spiced apple pies with themed shortbread toppers.

I’m not sure I want Halloween to end this year, with all of these delectable treats available!

I managed to sneakily take some photos of the recent behind the scenes happenings, we have been very busy bees! This is not all folks, there is loads more planned for our brilliant Halloween Evenings, but I don’t want to let the witch’s cat out of the bag too soon.

If you’re coming along to one of our Spooktacular Halloween Evenings (or indeed if you’ve already been!), why not share your photos on Beamish’s Facebook, Twitter or Instagram channels? We would love to see them!
